Tatums Black History Festival

When: Late February or Early March
Presented by: Town of Tatums

The Tatums Black History Festival is an annual celebration honoring the town’s important place in Oklahoma and African American history.

As one of Oklahoma’s remaining historic All-Black towns, Tatums represents the determination of formerly enslaved people and their descendants who pursued freedom, land ownership, education, and economic opportunity in Indian Territory.

The festival brings the community together to recognize that legacy through educational programs, historical presentations, cultural activities, entertainment, food, fellowship, and family-friendly events.

Visitors are invited to learn more about the families who helped build Tatums, celebrate the achievements of African Americans throughout Oklahoma, and experience the welcoming spirit of the community.

Festival Highlights May Include

  • Black history and heritage programs
  • Local and regional guest speakers
  • Historical exhibits and presentations
  • Live music and entertainment
  • Food and merchandise vendors
  • Youth and family activities
  • Community recognition ceremonies
  • Trail rides, rodeo activities, or western-themed events
  • Church services and fellowship gatherings

Festival dates, activities, and locations may vary each year. Additional information will be announced by the Town of Tatums as the event approaches.
